adipurush

The much-talked-about film- Aadipurush, starring Prabhas as Ram and Kriti Sanon as Sita, has been making headlines for its controversial portrayal of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film has met with widespread criticism from the audience, who have accused the makers of distorting the epic and of fallacious representation.

Ravan in adipurush

One of the main concerns raised by the critics is the film's portrayal of Raavan. In the trailer, Raavan is depicted as a hulking, muscular villain with a menacing laugh. This portrayal is in stark contrast to the original tale, where Raavan is as human as all other characters of Ramayana.

Another concern raised is the film's portrayal of Sita. In the film, Sita is shown as a helpless damsel-in-distress who needs to be rescued by Ram. This portrayal is in contrast to the traditional depiction of Sita, who is often portrayed as a strong and independent woman.

People argue that this portrayal of Sita is not only inaccurate but also demeaning. They say that it will reinforce the stereotype that women are weak and need to be rescued by men.

In light of these concerns, the audiences have called for the film to be banned. They argue that the film is not only disrespectful to the Hindu religion but also mocking the religion that would teach illusory Ramayana to the young generations.

The makers of Aadipurush have defended their film, saying that it is a "modern interpretation" of the Ramayana. They have said that they have taken the liberty of changing some of the details of the epic in order to make it more appealing and entertaining to a modern audience.

Nevertheless, the makers of the film have no right to change the Ramayana as its a sacred text that should not be tampered with. The controversy surrounding Aadipurush is a reminder of the sensitivity of religious issues in India. However, it’s not just a matter of interpretation but is also a distortion of a traditional narrative.
