During summer, excessive sweat and scorching heat are possibly the culprits of your skin-related issues, such as skin breakouts, acne, redness, inflammation and more. Generally, people with oily skin, face such issues, however, that doesn't make it any easier for people with dry skin type. The humid weather makes dry skin drier, often leading to itchiness and patchiness. Facing extreme heat and blasting cold waves from air conditioners simultaneously can wreak havoc on your skin. A good summer diet can help you prevent these skin issues.

Here are some easy-to-follow diet tips that can boost skin health and give you a supple, soft, and radiating skin.

1. Cool Your Body

This is not suggestive of constantly sitting in an air conditioned room or gulping down ice cubes. There are many foods and drinks that have an instant cooling effect on your bodily system to fight the blazing heat. Make use of all those wonderful fruits like Mango, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple etc. to make hydrating drinks.

2. Load Up on Vitamin C

Vitamin C is not just good for building immunity, this vital nutrient also helps maintain collagen- a tissue that forms the inner layer of skin. So, bring home fresh oranges,

lemons, tomatoes and summer-special green leafy vegetables to infuse vitamin C

into your skin to keep it healthy and glowing from within.

3. Stay Away from Spicy Foods

Spice generates heat in the body and disturb your acid levels that can lead to breakouts. So, avoid spicy foods as much as possible or limit your intake. Use green chillies and black pepper powder in moderation instead of whole red chillies.

4. Don't Skip Nuts and Seeds

Here’s a myth busted for you: dry fruits are no doubt warming in nature but it is also good for the body and skin health, so can be consumed in summers too. Just have a tablespoon of nuts and seeds every day. You can add them to your salads, smoothies, yogurt, desserts etc. that will give a cooling effect to your skin.

5. Stay hydrated

More the importance laid on it, the lesser it is: hydration is essential for good skin health. Water hydrates the body, flushes out toxins, and keeps the digestive system running smooth - all of which are factors contributing in keeping the skin healthy and radiating. Cooling drinks such as, coconut water, lemonade, detox water, and foods like curd, mint, and cucumbers are the best ways to keep the body cool. Escape from using carbonated drinks and sugar-laden ice creams for the same.
